GHB Benefits Consultant appointed to state advisory committee

Curt Vaniman, one of GHB’s long-time benefits consultants, has been appointed by the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) to serve a two-year term on the state agency’s Life & Disability Broker/Agent Advisory Committee charged with helping the OIC stay in touch with the insurance marketplace.
Vaniman has been with GHB Insurance for more than 12 years and is the only member currently on the state agency committee from the Olympia area.
The OIC’s Life and Disability Broker Advisory Committee advises Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler on emerging insurance issues such as coverage for UBER and LYFT drivers or insuring marijuana grow operations, as well as other topics that present new challenges for the insurance industry.
Commissioner Kreidler has a set agenda for the semi-annual meetings of the advisory group, with input provided by committee members. The agenda for the October 18, 2017 meeting includes a discussion of the updated status of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at the national level and information on the OIC’s state legislative agenda—what OIC will propose for the 2018 legislative session and a review of any other legislation that will affect the industry.
“Because GHB—now celebrating its 90th year—provides group coverage for hundreds of employers throughout Western Washington and facilitates insurance coverage for thousands of lives, we have a lot of experience and industry wisdom that can help in these dynamic times,” says Vaniman who has been involved with insurance for 27 years. “I look forward to being at the table and communicating the information we glean from our customers.”
